Welcome to Cape Handlers Dog Club

Cape Handlers Dog Club (CHDC). CHDC is a KUSA affiliated dog club specialising in obedience training for all breeds of dog. We were formed in 1987. Obedience training takes place on Sunday mornings from 10h00. Classes run for approximately one hour. Training begins for young puppies in our Puppy Socialising Class and progresses to Competition Training at national level. Each class consists of a term of between 7 and 8 weeks and training becomes more comprehensive as you progress through the classes. Please check under FAQ's regarding specific class times.  No dog is either too young or too old to begin training. However, proof of vaccination must be provided before training can commence.
CHDC has its own clubhouse, complete with bar and kitchen facilities, light meals being served on Sunday mornings. We also have a small but comprehensive library of books, videous and DVDs covering all aspects of dogs and dog training. CHDC organises a number of social functions during the year and the clubhouse is available to members for hire for special functions (after 1 year's membership). Members of the club have access to the club’s fields at any time to exercise their dogs, except when formal training is underway.
